On this Sprinter, we started with a full charging system test, checking battery health, voltage at idle and under load, and AC ripple across the terminals. The old Valeo unit was producing inconsistent output and clearly on its last legs. We removed it, inspected the wiring and belt condition, and fitted a quality replacement alternator. After installation, we re-tested under load to confirm clean, stable charging across the system.
Getting the diagnosis right matters. Replacing an alternator when the real issue is a corroded earth strap or a failing battery is an expensive mistake, so we always verify the fault before quoting parts.
