When a service gets pushed out longer than it should, the oil inside your engine slowly turns from smooth lubricant into something closer to sludge soup. 🧽 We recently had a Perth daily-driver roll into the workshop well past its service interval, so before we dropped in fresh oil, we ran a DCL Engine Oil Flush Pro through it to give the engine the reset it deserved.
What Actually Happens Inside a Neglected Engine
Every time your engine runs, oil breaks down through heat, oxidation and fuel dilution. Stretch the service interval and that oil starts leaving deposits behind — sludge on the pickup screen, varnish on bearings, and gum inside the narrow oil galleries that feed critical components like the VVT solenoids, turbo bearings and hydraulic lifters.
Once those deposits build up, simply draining the old oil isn’t enough. A lot of the contamination stays clinging to internal surfaces, and the fresh oil you pour in gets compromised almost immediately.
How the DCL Engine Oil Flush Pro Works
An oil flush is added to the old oil and the engine is idled for a short period before draining. During that time the detergents and dispersants in the flush go to work on the internal deposits. Specifically, it:
